Adrienne Scrivens "Not many people can say this of their building experience, but believe it or not, mine was almost enjoyable! This was wholly due to de Rosee & Sa, who guided us seamlessly through the process from start to finish.
We have a basement flat in a mansion block in Notting Hill. de Rosee & Sa were responsible for presenting the renovation plans to the Board of the building and obtaining permission for these (not always straightforward!) as well as dealing with our local council and planning. We always found them incredibly helpful and professional and genuinely committed to getting the optimal style and functionality in every aspect of the build. From the drawing board to the construction site their involvement seemed to `take away the pain`. They were diligent and detail oriented to an exceptional degree, so that once it got to the project management point of the job, we were always confident that we knew exactly where we were in terms of schedule, and price. They were also an indispensable and diplomatic go between with our builders and suppliers.
The result is that we went from having a dingy somewhat depressing basement flat with a labyrinth of corridors and rooms, to an open airy flat that happily houses our family of five, with a `wow` factor that has been commented upon by all our guests. I cannot recommend them highly enough, and would be thrilled to use them again." Lutyens & Rubinstein "Our experience of working with de Rosee & Sa on the redesign and refurbishment of our new bookshop, Lutyens & Rubinstein, in Kensington Park Road has been a very happy one. During the design process they really listened to what we wanted and even though the budget was small and our ideas quite ambitious they were patient and innovative, doing a huge amount of research and visiting a lot of bookshops and craftsmen in order to come up with a design which would be both practical and beautiful. One of the striking things about the way de Rosee and Sa work is the very effective communication between the players. We really felt that we got the best out of everyone from Claire Sa`s strong views on colour and interior design to Max de Rosee`s clever solutions to potential problems and Clare Stevenson`s fantastic open attitude and ability to interpret, progress and clarify the various ideas that were being discussed.
The process of realising the design was equally trouble-free. de Rosee & Sa worked both with contractors they knew and craftsmen that were brought in especially for this project (the shelves were built by Jack Ingham of Bookworks, a specialist in bookshop design who I know would concur that DRS were a pleasure to deal with even when they were having to be very strict with deadlines!). They achieved the budget and the timescale (both of which were quite testing) with regular site visits, and an incredibly high standard of client support. They worked with our IT specialist who also praised the professionalism of the contractors and their brief.
The project completed, there are inevitably issues which arise as a space is used and the partnership has addressed and advised on all the outstanding queries even when it has involved evening telephone calls with a loud burglar alarm ringing in the background!
In the end the proof lies in the pudding and I think everyone agrees that the completed design is both elegant and fit for purpose and it has been fun and inspiring for all of us to work together to achieve it."
